Grain Rushed to Drought-Stricken Area in Northwest China
More than 20 million kilos of food grain and 2 million yuan (US$240,000) have been distributed to the severely drought-stricken area in
Qinghai
Province, northwest part of China.
This has ensured food supply daily needs for local people before and during the Spring Festival.
Last year, some 1.38 million farmers in the province endured hardships after a rare drought.
The government has spent 6 million yuan to help those in need since September. The civil affairs administration is keeping a close eye on residents to ensure their needs are met including supplies like flour and highland barley.
