China Establishes Animal Cloning Company
China has established a domestic animal cloning company in Yangling, China's only state-level agricultural high-tech development zone in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
Zhang Yong, a leading scientist in the field of embryo engineering, took the post of president of the Yangling Keyuan Cloning Ltd.
Since 1990, Zhang and his research group have successfully cloned 45 goats, the largest group of such cloned animals in the world.
Zhang said the company is expected to push ahead cloning technology in animal husbandry and agriculture as well as the industrialization of China's biological high-tech discoveries.
