Chilean Judge Questions Pinochet

Chilean Minister of Law Juan Guzman questioned ex-military ruler, Augusto Pinochet, about the " Death Caravan" case on Tuesday, January 23.

Guzman conducted the two-hour-long interrogation at Pinochet's private residence in La Dehesa, Santiago, in order to evaluate Pinochet's alleged responsibility in the case. The case involved a series of 75 murders in early days of Pinochet's regime.

Guzman asked over 70 questions, which were based upon his correspondence inquiries with Pinochet, when the general was detained in London. But it was not made publicly known how Pinochet responded.

When Guzman arrived at Pinochet's heavily-guarded residence on Tuesday morning, he received insults from Pinochet's supporters.

Before the inquiry, Pinochet's lawyer, Jose Maria Eyzaguirre, corresponded with the defendant to decide whether he should answer questions.
