Chinese Leaders Attend Spring Festival Party
A grand party was held Monday evening at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to celebrate the coming of the Spring Festival, which falls on Wednesday.
Present at the party were Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice president; Wei Jianxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat; and Li Lanqing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier.
A ball and a Peking Opera show attracted a large number of local adults, while children enjoyed puppet shows.
The climax of the evening was a major performance, featuring songs and dances, staged in the central hall.
