Guizhou University to Grant Doctoral Degrees

Approved by the State Council, Guizhou University in southwest China's Guizhou Province is qualified, from this year on, to grant doctoral degrees in the two specialties of computer software and theory and the science of pesticide.

This makes Guizhou University the first institute of higher education with such qualification in the province, said Kong Lingzhong, director of provincial education department, at a press conference Saturday.

Li Xiang and Song Bao'an, professors for the two majors respectively, are both leading scientists with rich educational experience and scientific research results in their fields.

Guizhou University now has 40 masters degree research stations.

There are more than 17,000 students pursing bachelor and master degrees in the university.
