Tibetan New Year Party Held
More than 300 people from all walks of life in Tibet, southwest China, gathered in Lhasa Hotel Saturday to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival and Tibetan New Year.
Legqog, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, said that in 2000 the people in Tibet have successfully fulfilled the ninth five-year plan to ensure their self-sufficiency in food, and Tibet now enjoys political stability, economic growth, and unity among all ethnic groups.
Tibet's achievements over the past years show that the region will have a glorious future on the road of socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, he said.
