Three Prospects of Internet Development: Charles Zhang
In his speech titled "Review and Prospect of Chinese Internet Development" given at the first annual meeting of Chinese Entrepreneur Forum, Zhang Chaoyang (Charles Zhang), CEO of the Chinese Internet Company Sohu.com, expounded internet development from the three aspects of the new media platform, new communication platform and e-commerce platform.
Zhang said, firstly, Internet is a media platform and entertainment platform as well. But the platform needs a broad bandwidth reform. In the future, the document format, image and sound will also undergo further reform. By then, it will be difficult for people to distinguish TV from the Internet.
Secondly, Internet is a new communication platform. Internet has brought communication into a thorough, free and very lively process of multitude participation, a process containing not only sound, but also images.
Thirdly, Internet is an alienated e-commerce platform. Although the Chinese economy's demand for e-commerce is not so high as that in the United States, with China's coming accession to the WTO, competition will become increasingly fierce, and the country's demand for e-commerce will be gradually enlarged.
Zhang said his company is making efforts to do something, such as doing online video recording, holding Internet conference, and helping enterprises establish their websites, and they will practice economy and make profits through the Internet.
