Congolese Govt. Officially Announces Kabila's DeathThe government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Thursday officially announced the death of President Laurent Kabila.DRC Communication Minister Dominique Sakombi said in a statement broadcast on state-run television that Kabila, who was shot by one of bodyguards on Tuesday, died on Thursday morning A funeral for Kabila is scheduled for Friday, the minister said. He further declared that Joseph Kabila, son of the late president, has taken over as acting president of the DRC.
