Billions Taiwan Capital Flows into Jiangsu Province

East China's Jiangsu Province has had 9 billion US dollars of investments from Taiwan businessmen by the end of last year.

It is the largest sum of the investment from Taiwan businessmen in the country as well as in the province.

In 2000, the province approved 719 Taiwanese-funded programs and drew in 1.6 billion US dollars in actual use, according to the statistics released by Jiangsu provincial government.

There are 120 programs that have an investment of over 10 million US dollars, more than half of which went into electronics and information industries.

To date, 60 companies of the top 100 in Taiwan have invested in the province.

Electronics and information projects accounted for the largest proportion of the total programs. Nearly 300 programs out of the total 719 were in the area of electronics and information.
