China Charity Art Troupe Set Up
The China Charity Art Troupe was founded Thursday, composing some 200 artists who will stage performances and other fund-raising activities to help those in need.
The troupe is sponsored by the China Charity Federation (CCF), with assistance from a number of leading art troupes and associations in the country.
All its members are volunteers, including Wu Jianguo, a deputy president of the CCF and head of the troupe, and Sun Jiabao, executive head of the troupe and the former head of the dancing and singing troupe under the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
At the founding ceremony, the troupe held its first performance, entitled "The Charitable Sail of the New Century," and the CCF rewarded a number of local and overseas individuals and institutions for their participation in its orphan-assisting program.
