Both sides resumed the negotiations after a day of adjournment on Wednesday, when Ben-Ami visited Egypt and met with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in Cairo. During the meeting, Arafat proposed the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations be held in Egypt's Sinai resort of Taba for a permanent peace deal prior to the Israeli prime ministerial election on February 6.
