Tibet Invests More in Fixed Assets

Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region will pour more in its infrastructure construction this year, to further improve the local investment environment.

The region plans to have an all-time-high investment of 9 billion yuan (US$1.08 billion) in fixed assets, up 35 percent from 2000.

The investment will mainly go to the construction of highways, feeder air routes within the region, power stations, telecommunication facilities, and water conservancy projects.

An official with the regional planning commission said that in the past three years, increasing fixed assets investment has contributed greatly to the economic development of Tibet.
