China Issues Commemorative Coins

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) announced that it is issuing a set of colored gold and silver commemorative coins Thursday featuring Chinese folk fairy tales.

The set of one gold coin and three silver coins is legal currency in China, a PBOC spokesman said.

The half-ounce gold coin has a denomination of 200 yuan, with an issuing amount of 8,800; the two one-ounce silver coins have the same denomination of 10 yuan and the same issuing amount of 30,000 each; the five-ounce silver coin, the only rectangular-shaped coin in the set, has a denomination of 50 yuan and an issuing amount of 10,000.
