Plum Blossom Association Set Up to Strengthen Across-Taiwan Straits ExchangesThe Nanjing International Plum Blossom Art Association was founded in Nanjing this week.The association consists of famous painters, calligraphers, poets, writers and social celebrities. The plum blossom is the symbolic flower of Nanjing, an ancient capital during 10 historical dynasties. Every winter and spring, 10,000 plum trees blossom on Plum Blossom Mountain in Nanjing, their fragrance attracting thousands of visitors. The association will cooperate with Taiwan's plum blossom association to organize painting and calligraphy exhibitions on plum blossom and publish collection of poems devoted to the plum blossom by authors from both sides of the Taiwan Straits. The association will also promote across-Strait economic and cultural relations through the annual plum blossom festival in the city. This year's festival falls around February 18. |
