Xiamen Customs Reports Higher Revenue in 2000

Xiamen Customs, in east China's Fujian Province, harvested a customs revenue of 6.02 billion yuan (US$725 million) in 2000, up 26.33 percent over the previous year.

According to statistics, US$6.049 billion of goods were imported through Xiamen Customs last year, an increase of 19.1 percent over 1999.

As the major source for customs revenue, general trade imports was US$2.777 billion, 42.28 percent more than that of 1999.

The increase in custom revenue is also attributed to the unswerving efforts Xiamen Customs made to crack down on smuggling cases.
