New Air Route Launched in Western China

A new air route was launched Wednesday between two major cities in northwestern China's Gansu Province.

The route connects Lanzhou, capital of the province, and Jiayuguan, an important transportation pivot and famous scenic resort of the province. The route covers part of the ancient Silk Road, a land thoroughfare linking China with Central and Western Asia in ancient times.

The flight will be made on the 32-seat Dornier model 328-300 airplane, a feeder aircraft produced by Germany and the United States.

The route is to serve increasingly more people traveling to western countries for business and travel.
