Skin Cancer Removed From President ClintonA flat lesion removed from US President Clinton's back last week has turned out to be skin cancer, the White House announced on Tuesday.White House Spokesman Jake Siewert said test results confirmed the diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma, the most curable form of skin cancer. "This is a relatively common form of skin cancer, 800,000 to 1 million cases a year," Siewert said. He said Pathologists noted that the entire lesion was removed and the possibility of recurrence is low. Doctors recommended Clinton have the area examined again in four to six months and again every year after that. The lesion was discovered at a January 12 physical checkup at Bethesda Naval Hospital in suburban Maryland. |
