Chinese FM Hails Angola's One China PolicyVisiting Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan Tuesday expressed in Luanda his appreciation for the Angolan government's adherence to the One China policy and its support for the China's cause of reunification.Tang made the remarks during a meeting with Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, saying that there is a deep traditional friendship between China and Angola as well as between the two peoples. China and Angola have seen fruitful cooperation in the political and economic fields since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1983, Tang said. Mentioning that Angola is currently China's second largest trade partner in Africa, Tang said China is willing to further strengthen its cooperation with Angola in various fields on the principle of reciprocity, mutual benefit and co-development. Tang also praised Angola for its more and more important role in maintaining regional peace and stability. On his part, Dos Santos expressed his appreciation for China's positive function in Angola's peace process. The two countries can reinforce and expand their reciprocal cooperation in such fields as petroleum, construction and fishing, he said. Dos Santos also informed Tang of the Angolan government's position on seeking political solutions to the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and some neighboring countries, stressing that only with peace and stability in concerned countries, Angola can have a good environment for development. Tang reiterated the Chinese government's position on resolving the conflicts in the DRC and urged all parties concerned to restore peace, stability and security as well as good neighboring friendship in the Great Lakes region through dialogues. During his two-day visit, Tang also met his Angolan counterpart Joao Miranda.
