Fujian Leads China in Per Capita Aquatic Products

The coastal province of Fujian was ranked first in the country last year in terms of per capital aquatic products, according to local statistics.

Per capita fruits in the province moved to second place in the country.

It was the second straight year that the province's per capita aquatic products was ranked first.

In 1999, every person in the province consumed an average of 151.9 kilograms of aquatic products, which is 3.6 times as high as the nation's average, according to the State Statistical Bureau.

Last year, the province's total output for agriculture and fishery was valued at 100 billion yuan (US$12 billion), or up 3 percent. Township enterprises churned up a total industrial value of 600 billion yuan (US$72.3 billion), up 13 percent from the previous year.
