Vietnamese Leader Pledges to Boost Ties With CPPCCPresident of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VNFF) Central Committee Pham The Duyet said his front will further strengthen exchange and cooperation with the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), contributing to the friendly cooperation between the two countries.Duyet, also a member of the Politburo Standing Board of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Central Committee, made the remarks here on Monday while meeting with a CPPCC delegation headed by Henry Ying Tung Fok, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. In recent years, Duyet said, the relationship between Vietnam and China has been developed continuously. The two countries have signed a land border treaty, an agreement on the delimitation of the Beibu Gulf territorial sea and an agreement on fishery cooperation, bringing the good-neighborly and friendly ties and all-round cooperation between the two countries to a new development stage. He added that the friendly cooperation between his front and the CPPCC has been also increasingly developing under the leadership of the two parties and states. Duyet expressed his confidence that his front and the CPPCC will make concerted efforts to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation, contributing to further development of the friendship between the two parties and countries in the 21st century. Fok said during the meeting that strengthening exchange and cooperation between the CPPCC and the VNFF will further promote the development of the two countries' constructive causes. The CPPCC vice chairman expressed his thanks to Vietnam for adhering to its principled one-China stand, saying the success of the "one country, two systems" policy in Hong Kong and Macao has set a model for the great cause of solving the Taiwan problem and realizing the reunification of the motherland. Fok and his entourage arrived here on Sunday for a four-day goodwill visit to Vietnam, which is the last leg of his Southeast Asia trip. The delegation has already visited Cambodia and Laos. |
