Ten Robbers Executed in S. China Province

Ten criminals convicted of robbery were executed recently in south China's Hainan Province.

The criminals set barriers to rob trucks transporting vegetables along the "Green Passage" in Hainan, the only road transporting vegetables produced in the province to the market.

In the small hours of February 13, 1999, Wang Bulei, with a gun, and several others, each with a knife, robbed the driver after the tires of a truck carrying vegetable were pierced by long steel nails they had planted on the west expressway in Hainan.

Between January 1996 and April 1999, the group had robbed over 10 vegetable-carrying trucks along the expressways in Hainan and Guangxi. The goods they seized were valued at 100,000 yuan.

In addition, six other criminals convicted of robbing vegetable-carrying trucks between February and July of 1999 were also executed.
