Japanese Prime Minister Visits Greece

apanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori is currently in Greece for a two-day official visit to boost bilateral ties between the two countries.

Mori, who arrived here Saturday night, is the first Japanese prime minister ever to visit Greece since the two countries established diplomatic relations more than 100 years ago.

During his stay, Mori is expected to hold talks with Greek leaders on Greek-Japanese relations and regional issues of common concern.

In recent years, relations between the two countries have seen a smooth development with annual two-way trade reaching about 1 billion U.S. dollars.

Greece, an increasingly popular tourist destination for Japanese, attracts about 100,000 Japanese visitors each year.

Greece is the last leg of Mori's nine-day African and European trip, which has already taken him to South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
