Luoyang Fire Victims' Remains Properly Treated

A total of 309 victims' remains were found out of the Luoyang fire and latest news reports say these have all been well and properly treated. Of the 309 victims 300 were cremated under agreement by relatives and family members of the victims and nine ethnic Hui victims buried according to Hui customs.

From the very start local governments and leading officials had showed great concern over the fire and handling of all aftermath matters in Luoyang. After breaking out of the fire an emergency group was immediately formed and soon after the fire a large force of 229 cadres was sent to help the victims' relatives identify the remains and cremation of the victims' dead bodies. Thanks to well-organized satisfactory work, nothing had been found amiss in the handling of aftermath matters of the Luoyang fire.

Cadres at various levels of the city of Luoyang expressed deep concern and consoled relatives of the dead. Most of the victims' relatives expressed their gratitude and cooperated in the handling of aftermath affairs of the fire.

After the New Year's Day, the focus of work has been shifted to compensations to relatives of the dead. As Spring Festival is drawing near, the city has offered some relief funds and social donations to relatives of the victims. Family members and relatives of the victims will be compensated appropriately according to law.
