Premier Zhu Meets Tonga Crown PrinceChina-Tonga relations "have been based on mutual respect, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit," Zhu told visiting Tonga Crown Prince Tupouto'a Monday morning. During the meeting, Zhu expressed appreciation for the achievements that the Tonga government, under the leadership of King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV, scored in developing national economy, improving people's living standard and participating in international and regional affairs. Zhu also expressed the wish that even more progress will be registered in Tonga's national construction. Tupouto'a said that he is ready to further the friendly relations between China and Tonga, reaffirming that Tonga adheres to the One-China policy and the fact that Taiwan is a part of Chinese territory. Zhu, in reply, said that China greatly appreciated the Tonga government's adherence to the One-China principle and the fact that it has not had any official contact with Taiwan. He also thanked Tonga for supporting China in Taiwan-related issues in the Pacific Islands Forum.
