A U.S. Navy officer was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of assaulting a 59-year-old female bar owner in Okinawa Prefecture only nine days after U.S. forces lifted

A six-month midnight curfew covering the southernmost island prefecture, police said.

Chief Petty Officer Christopher Sczublewski, 33, is alleged to have assaulted the woman and wounded her right index finger at a bar in the village of Kunigami, northern Okinawa Island, around 12:25 a.m., police said, adding she was trying to stop a brawl.
