Over 1,500 Ethiopians Repatriated from Eritrea: ICRC

A total of 1,554 people of Ethiopian origin left Eritrea to Ethiopia Saturday under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an ICRC press release said.

The repatriation operation took place between the Eritrean town of Adi Quala and Ethiopian town of Rama via the Mereb River, the press release said.

Ahead of the repatriation, ICRC delegates based in Eritrea held private interviews with the internees to check their wish to return to their motherland.

The ICRC delegates in both Eritrea and Ethiopia assisted the repatriated Ethiopian nationals on their way back home, the document said.
