French Defense Minister to Visit Russia for ABMFrench Defense Minister Alain Richard will visit Moscow next Tuesday to discuss the possibility of creating a non-strategic anti-ballistic missile (ABM) system in Europe, the Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday."The ballistic missile defense issue, including the U.S. plan to deploy a national ABM system and the possibility of a non- strategic ballistic missile defense system in Europe, will be a separate topic of bilateral talks," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a news release. During his two-day stay in Moscow, Richard will also hold talks with Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev over the state and prospects of developing the Russian-French military and military- technical cooperation. Moreover, the ministers will discuss the current state and the prospects of Russia-NATO relations, the situation in the Balkans as well as Russian-French cooperation in the sphere of non- proliferation of nuclear weapons. Richard will visit the Military Academy of the Russian General Staff and meet with its administration and faculty, according to the ministry.
