Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao Visits Jordan
Vice President Hu Jintao arrived in Amman Saturday on a three-day official visit to Jordan Saturday at the invitation of Jordanian Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb.

Upon his arrival, Hu and his entourage were greeted by Ragheb, cabinet ministers and military officials at Marka airport. Hu was accorded a grand welcome ceremony.

In a written statement distributed upon arrival, Hu said that further consolidation and development of friendly and cooperative ties between China and Jordan is the common will of the two governments in conformity to the fundamental interests of the two peoples.

Hu said he is looking forward to meetings with Jordanian leaders to exchange views on further developing Sino-Jordanian ties as well as on international and regional issues of common concern.

During his visit, Hu is expected to meet with Jordanian King Abdullah Bin Hussein, Prime Minister Ragheb, Senate President Zaid al Rifaee, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdul Hadi al Majali and other senior Jordanian officials.

Hu said he believes that his visit will further promote bilateral understanding and friendship, and bolster sustainable, steady and healthy development of friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries.

Sino-Jordanian ties have been developing smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic relations more than two decades ago.

Amman is the third leg of Hu's five-nation tour which has taken him to Iran and Syria. He will also visit Cyprus and Uganda.
