Favorable Terms Given on China's West-East Gas Transport

According to sources from authoritative departments, foreign investors may be accorded the right to invest as shareholders, proprietary shareholders or sole investors in the construction and operation of China's West-to-East Gas Transportation Pipelines project to be launched. It is reported invitations have been sent out to perspective investors abroad. Competitive tenders are wanted and as scheduled, the whole bidding work is to be completed in coming June. Preferential terms will be given investors and these are as the following:

  • 1. No set forms demanded: joint venture, a cooperative pattern, or any other form;


  • 2. Launched as a part of urban cooperative construction projects open to foreign investors;


  • 3. Duties to be exempted on equipment imports needed;


  • 4. As a long-term huge investment item to be encouraged in China;


  • 5. Land use in accord with "pass thru" policy.
