2nd Globalization Forum Kicks off
Co-sponsored by the People's Daily, Hong Kong Foundation for Globalization Cooperation and the Ministry of Information Industry, the second Globalization Forum (http://www.globalizationforum.org) is to set sail in Sanya, Hainan Province from January 12 to 14.

As reported, some 100 people are going to attend the forum. The notable among them are Nitin Desai, Under-Secretary-General of the UN, John T. Chambers, President and CEO of Cisco Systems, U.S.A, Eduardo Aninat, Deputy Managing Director of International Monetary Fund, Endymion Wilkinson, ambassador of the EU Commission Delegation to China and other officials from the World Bank Group. Also present at the forum are some 200 Chinese officials, specialists and entrepreneurs.

With "Knowledge, Creation and Development in 21st Century " as theme topic, the forum purports to equality, mutual benefit, win-win and coexistence with the stress for discussion to be laid on the issues of economic globalization and the new international economic order, the developing countries and economic globalization, China's economic development and the WTO, information technology and the globalization process, etc.

The 3-day forum is conducted in the form of plenary session, roundtable discussions and group discussions in parallel on different topics. Issues as economic globalization, new economy and traditional economy, WTO in 21st century, China's economic development and the WTO, economic and the consideration of the globalization and the value of humane culture etc, will be discussed at the plenary session. Issues of roundtable discussions include establishment of a healthy global finance system, progress of information technology and economic globalization, Silicon Valley experience, the role of information economy in the process of globalization, the responsibilities of labor forces and multinational corporations in the economic globalization.
