P&G Donates to Guangzhou Education FundProctor & Gamble (P&G) company of the United States January 12 donated 500,000 yuan (US$60,240) to an educational fund in this capital of south China's Guangdong Province.The fund provides financial support for poverty-stricken students and help poor teachers who have done outstanding work in education. The company has so far donated more than 40 million yuan (US$4.8 million) to various public welfare projects, such as the famous "Hope Project" which gives financial assistance to poverty-stricken dropouts. The company's donations were also used as awards for outstanding university students, funding for health care, environmental protection, aid to the disabled and disaster relief. P&G is one of the world's largest manufacturers of commodities for daily use. P&G (China) was set up in 1988 in Guangzhou. To date, the company has established 11 joint-venture projects in Guangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu and Tianjin. |
