Beijing to Improve Police Officers' Awareness for Strict Law Enforcement

Beijing Municipal Justice Bureau Director Wang Chongxun said Friday, January 12, that there will be a five-month long educational program for local police officers to increase their awareness about strict law enforcement.

Public security staff working in prisons and the labor education and rehabilitation system will be the focus of the program.

Wang said most of the police officers who work in these areas have strictly carried out their duties over the past few years.

However, some of them have taken bribes from the families of inmates by offering reduction in imprisonment or parole.

He said that the program is to strengthen self-discipline among police officers and those who are found to have strayed away from the guidelines of the law will face severe punishment.
