Japan Urged to Correctly Recognize History, FM Spokesman

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said Friday, January 12, that Japan should correctly recognize its history of aggression.

It was reported that a Japanese leader once again used the words of "Shima Incident" and "Greater East Asia War" when talking about the history during a recent visit to South Africa.

Zhu's remarks came in response to the Japanese leader's words.

Zhu said that "we have noticed the report," adding that "we are simply puzzled by the frequent occurrences of such things."

"We think Japan should correctly recognize the period of its aggression," Zhu said.

"We hope the Japanese side will pay attention to the issue," the spokesman said.
