Macao SAR to Construct New Border-Check Building

The government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) plans to construct a new border-check building in connection with the Gongbei Customs of Zhuhai City.

The project has been approved by the State Council of China, Ao Man Long, secretary for transportation and public works of the Macao SAR government, said in Macao Friday, January 12.

Heading a government delegation, Ao had just finished discussing the construction of the building with counterpart officials of Zhuhai. Officials from both sides have reached consensus on some key issues.

The new building will be able to meet the growing vehicle and passenger movement between the two areas, Ao said.

The Macao SAR government plans to invite public bidding beginning from March this year. And actual construction may start in the first half of the year.
