Official Calls for Safety Awareness for Tourists in Spring Festival

China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) Friday, January 12, called on departments concerned for joint efforts to guard against accidents for the safety of tourists during the Spring Festival later this month.

The Spring Festival, the Chinese lunar New Year, is the most important traditional holiday in China. Many Chinese take the holiday to return home for family reunion.

This year's Spring Festival holiday season will last seven days and the tourism market will witness a boom compared with May Day and National Day holidays, both lasted one week, according to Sun Gang, deputy director of the CNTA.

He said the CNTA has urged departments concerned at all localities to keep the facilities and equipment in scenic spots in good conditions and remove hidden perils for the safety of tourists.
