UNESCO Sets up Association in Changchun

An association of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was established in this capital city of northeast China's Jilin Province Tuesday.

The Changchun UNESCO branch is China's 15th local organization subordinate to the UNESCO so far.

The new branch in Changchun will be engaged in introducing international achievements and experiences to popularize and improve Changchun's educational, scientific and cultural practices, and promote the city's exchange and cooperation with relevant organizations around the world.

Known as a city of science and culture in China, Changchun has been working to advocate the development of education, science and culture.

Local statistics show that there are 27 universities and more than 100 scientific research institutions in the city, and the ratio of college students and professional researchers to the total population is among the highest in China.
