Candidature File of Beijing to Be Submitted to IOCThe Candidature File of Beijing for 2008 Olympic bidding has been completed, said sources from Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO) January 10. On this 16th, Wang Wei, secretary-general of BOBICO will set out for Lausanne and submit it to the IOC Executive Board.According to the procedures and rules of IOC, the five candidate cities are required to present their Candidature File by January 17, 2001 set as the deadline for it. The report for the bidding was printed and dressed up in Shenzhen January 9 without fail. The file covers 18 theme topics with a total of 596 pages. The first 17 parts feature on the characteristics of Beijing and the country, legal aspects, custom and immigration formalities, finance, environment protection, market development, sports, general sports concept, Olympic Village, transportation, security, technology, communication and media services, medical and health services, paralympic Games and so on. The last part goes to guarantees of 169 items including a letter signed by senior leaders of Beijing municipal government, words of President Jiang Zemin and Premier Zhu Rongji, and 28 credentials of acknowledgement from international single sports organizations. As reported, some 70 copies of the bilingual Candidature File (French and English) are to be delivered first to the IOC administration. After passing through the appraisal of experts, another 180 copies at least will be dispatched to the following persons or organizations: IOC members; honorary IOC members; each International Olympic Summer Sports Federation; the Association of Summer Olympic Sports Federations (ASOIF); the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC); each of five NOC Continental Associations (ANOCA, PASO, OCA, EOC, ONOC).
