Zhejiang Reports 600 Billion Yuan in GDP
The coastal province of Zhejiang has for the first time in history generated over 600 billion yuan of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), up 11 percent from 1999.
The per capita GDP in this small province, whose economy used to be contained by limited natural resources, ranked first among all provinces and autonomous regions in China, only after Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin municipalities.
Zhejiang was one of the fastest developing regions in China last year. Unlike many other provinces, Zhejiang features profiting SOEs and a large number of vigorous private enterprises.
