Sihanouk Offers Royal Audience to CPPCC Delegation

King Norodom Sihanouk on Wednesday awarded royal audience to the delegation of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) headed by Henry Ying Tung Fok, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

At the invitation of Cambodia's Senate, the CPPCC delegation arrived here on Tuesday evening for a 4-day official visit.

At the audience in the Royal Palace, King Sihanouk highly appreciated Chinese President Jiang Zemin's state visit in November 2000 as "historical event" which has pushed the relationship between Cambodia and China to a new high level.

The king told the Chinese guests that Cambodia has always supported the stand of "one China", either now or in future it pursues the principle of "one China".

Chinese CPPCC vice chairman Henry Ying Tung Fok said that he had admired the king's contributions to the development of Sino-Cambodian friendship in long-term period.

He told Sihanouk that great results made after the return of Hong Kong and Macao to China have strongly indicated that the China's policy of "one nation, two systems" is right.
