Nokia Forms Partnership with China.com for Broadband Market

Nokia and China.com announced Tuesday, January 9, that success has been achieved in the broadband network application service co-developed by the two parties, the first suchlike product jointly launched by a dotcom and a telecom company in China.

Last year Nokia (China) Investment Co. Ltd. signed an agreement with China.com to jointly develop broadband application service. It is hoped that the cooperation would help Internet operators to expand broadband service in providing diversified services for China's Internet users.

In line with the agreement for the cooperation, Nokia would provide the service of system integration based on the broadband network, whereas China.com with its subsidiary websites served as Internet content provider, providing application services in terms of movies, games, community service, electronic books and three-dimensional layout for shopping, etc. The application server of China.com will be linked directly with the DSL an access system provided by Nokia in order to ensure a high-quality and super-speed broadband application.

Wang An, vice president of Nokia (China) company said that the cooperation will be conducive to the further development, thus helping the Nokia to lead the broadband business in China.

Person in charge of the financial department in China.com said that with China's pending for the accession to WTO, he believes that China's broadband market will be more promising, and the cooperation will help create a "win-win" deal for the two parties.
