Chinese Senior Legislator Meets S. African Delegation

The exchange of visits between legislative bodies of China and South Africa is important to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, a senior legislators said Wednesday afternoon.

The relations between China and South Africa have developed smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic ties, said, Xu Jialu, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, at a meeting with a South African parliamentarian delegation.

Dr. P. Jordan, a member of the African National Congress, who heads the South African delegation, said that all the political parties in the South African parliament value ties with China and wish to learn China's experiences in developing the economy and in reforms.

The delegation is visiting China as guest of the NPC's Foreign Affairs Committee.

On Wednesday morning, Li Shuzheng, vice-chairwoman of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee, held talks with the delegation.
