Bo Xilai Appointed Acting Governor of Liaoning Province
A new acting governor has been appointed in China's northeastern province of Liaoning, media reported Wednesday.
Bo Xilai, 51, the former Communist Party secretary of Dalian city, was appointed Liaoning province vice governor and acting governor by the local parliament.
Bo was Dalian's popular mayor from 1993 to 1998, before being promoted to the city's party secretary last year after making Dalian one of China's most liveable cities.
