Chinese Vice President Ends up Visit to Iran

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao left Shiraz, a southern Iranian ancient city, on Wednesday for Damascus, winding up his five-day official visit to Iran.

During his stay in Tehran, Hu held talks with Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, First Vice President Hassan Habibi and other senior officials to exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues.

Leaders of both sides confirmed their willingness to further the bilateral relations through expanding cooperation in various fields, particularly transportation, energy and telecommunications.

Hu also visited Isfahan, capital of the central Isfahan Province. Iran is the first stop of Hu's visit to five Asian and African countries, which also include Syria, Jordan, Cyprus and Uganda.
