Senior CPC Official Meets Cast of TV Series

Wei Jianxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with the cast of a recently released historical TV series Tuesday in Beijing.

Wei thanked the cast for their talented work in vividly staging a clean uncorrupted official Yu Chenglong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Wei said that a historical figure like Yu Chenglong may significantly influence China's ongoing anti-corruption campaign and urged the artists to focus more on those uncorrupted officials who emerged since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

Wei also called for screening more artistic pieces like the popular TV series.

Being famous for his integrity and stern judicial behavior, Yu Chenglong was an official during the early Qing Dynasty at the time of Emperor Kang Xi (reigned 1662-1722),

The TV series was telecast recently on China Central Television (CCTV) and received favorable feedback from audience.
