Environmental Protection Hotline Debuts in China

China's first emergency hotline on environmental protection was launched Tuesday in Shanghai.

The hotline will open around-the-clock service to provide assistance to local citizens bothered by emerging environmental problems.

Anyone who finds the illegal discharge of pollutants or demand a faster response to an emergency case can contact with the hotline through dialing 62863110 in Shanghai. Hong Hao, director of Shanghai Municipal Environmental Protection Administration, said that a batch of emergency equipment including an emergency car are allocated for the hotline.

He said that the persons who expose the illegal acts in deteriorating environment will be awarded.

With the launching of this hotline, citizens in the city found it much easier to make their problems known and solved.
