HK Saw New Surge in External Trade in November

Hong Kong's value of re- exports of goods in November, 2000 increased by 10.9 percent over a year earlier, and the value of domestic exports of goods decreased by 6.6 percent, according to the Census and Statistics Department.

Meanwhile, the value of imports of goods rose by 11.6 percent, figures released Tuesday by the department showed.

For the first eleven months of 2000 taken together, the value of re-exports of goods was 19.2 percent higher than that in the same period in 1999.

Comparing with the first 11 months of 2000 in 1999, notable increases in the value of domestic exports were registered for electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and electrical parts.
