The US transport company United Parcel Service (UPS) will buy 60 Airbus cargo planes, A300-600, said Airbus company in a communique on Tuesday.

These planes will be delivered from 2003 to 2009 and will cost US$6 billion, said Airbus.

The president and chief executive officer of Airbus, Noel Forgeard, said that the order by UPS proves the power of Airbus products.

This is the second time for UPS to order Airbus A300-600 since 1998, when it ordered 30 such planes.

The A300-600 can carry a total of 29 containers with 50 tons of goods and is capable of flying 4,650 kilometers non-stop.
