Counterfeit Money Sellers Sentenced in Beijing

Eight people selling counterfeit money received imprisonment sentences from 18 months to 15 years Tuesday in Beijing.

Gu Chunfu, head of the gang, bought more than 2 million yuan (approximately US$241,000) in counterfeit money from south China's Guangdong Province early last year, and hired a group of people to sell the money in Beijing, Tianjin and other places.

This case, involving the largest sum of counterfeit money ever reported in Beijing, was tried by the Beijing Railway Transport Court.

The criminals will also be fined 20,000 to 200,000 yuan accordingly.
