Senior CPC Official Meets Japanese Guests

Jia Qinglin, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Monday with Takako Doi, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Japan and his delegation.

Jia, also secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of CPC, said that with the arrival of the new century the Sino-Japanese relations have entered a new period of development.

He said that he hopes the two sides will work together to develop the friendly cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Takako Doi said that he is pleased to be visiting China at the beginning of the new century.

The Sino-Japanese relations are important for the two countries and the peace and development of the world, he said.

Takako Doi noted that he hopes the relationship between the two countries will continue to grow in the new century, adding that his party will make efforts towards realizing this goal.

The Japanese guests are here at the invitation of the CPC.
