China Conducts Feasibility Study on Western Pan-Asian Route

A 21-member delegation from the Ministry of Railways recently traveled to Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Dehong in Yunnan Province to conduct a feasibility study on construction of the western route of the Pan-Asia Railway Line.

The planned Pan-Asian Railway links Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan province, with Singapore. Its western route starts in Kunming, runs through Dali and Ruili, then enters Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and ends in Singapore.

At present, the section between Kunming and Dali, with a total length of 359 km, is open to traffic, and work will start on the section leading to Ruili. When the railway eventually extends from Ruili to Myanmar, it will be connected with rail lines in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
